The unit is a surgical, tertiary care teaching medical center with provision for outpatient consultation, hospitalization, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, preoperative evaluation, operative and non operative management, intensive surgical care, and extended care for clinical and administrative support functions. We provide preoperative evaluation, operative and non-operative management and postoperative care for adult patients with a wide variety of surgical disorders. A number of operations are managed on fast track protocols or as Day Care Surgery, offering patients an early return to normal daily activities. Ours is a high burden unit for many Gastrointestinal & Cancer surgeries. The Unit also offers Clinical, theoretical and Research training for undergraduate and postgraduate medical students.
